Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 days per week.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) with demonstrated technical capability and experience developing in an agile software development framework. The TPM will be responsible for multi-functional program deliverables, schedules, scope definition, execution, and communication. The ideal candidate will have program management experience by demonstrated leading technical projects. The TPM will have a well-rounded technical background in sophisticated automotive technologies. In addition to the program management background, the technical side of the role is critical as well as you'll be expected to roll up your sleeves and dig into the technical details as needed. As TPM, you will need to anticipate bottlenecks/roadblocks, raise those to management, make tradeoffs and balance technical and business needs of the program. This role is the center of excellence for design and development of Automated Driving Sensing Software at GM.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional development of program scope, deliverables, timelines, and execution
  • Define work packages within the sensing software domain
  • Work with leadership to define level of effort, resource requirements and summary of timing plans
  • Plan and lead sprints in harmony with technical leads and management
  • Coordinate program reviews; communicating project status and top engineering issues to project team and management
  • Understand and communicate complex, technical and engineering issues
  • Lead design reviews and approve design milestones and criteria
  • Coordinate inter-team activities and ensure end-to-end visibility
  • Supports the development of sensing software requirements
  • Optimally work with diverse groups including those from other organizations or companies domestically and internationally
  • Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
  • Stay abreast of new technology

Additional Job Description

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience with project and resource management experience (PMP, DFSS, OPEX)
  • Programming experience with C, C++ or Python
  • Experience with project planning and tracking using Jira or RTC
  • Experience in requirements design and management (DOORS/DNG)
  • Experience with Git or similar version control systems
  • Experience with structured file formats such as XML, JSON
  • High level of oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in engineering
  • 6 years of automotive engineering experience
  • DFSS Certification
  • Experience with embedded SW systems
  • Experience with agile development SW toolchain (Jenkins, Docker, Linux OS)
  • Experience with robotics, automated driving SW stacks
  • Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development process
  • Familiarity with Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
