JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Accountant

Position: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Manager: No

Reports to: Controller

SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position is responsible for accounting tasks to provide comprehensive support to the Controller and the Westfall finance staff. The Accountant will perform general accounting and administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete Customer Billing based on Shipments Pending Invoicing Report from previous day activity.
• Post PIT- (Post Inventory Transactions) which records daily production inventory activity
• Review BOA Bank activity - daily for ZBA activity/prepare journal entries required.
• Record ACH/EFT activity processed thru BOA from previous day.
• Review Shared Services Accounts Payable aging report for Weekly Accounts Payable disbursement processing with Site Controller-General Manager.
• Review disbursements listing generated from Shared Services to ensure all critical vendors payments are processed.
• Reconciliation of all EKY Business Units Intercompany activities with related Westfall Business Units.
• Weekly review of Customer Invoicing/Sales Activity registers / Tie back to General Ledger.
• Record payroll journal entries based on ADP Reports along with data validation to the BOA Online Bank activity report.
• Prepare Payroll Accrual Journal entries, Bonus Accrual Entry, Accounts Payable accrual entry, Freight accrual, Sony Rebate accrual, L'Oreal Maintenance accrual for mold repair, Adjust Vacation accrual Liability based on ADP Reports, Real Estate Tax accrual, Rail car accruals.
• Record all Fixed Asset depreciation based on fixed asset schedules. Maintain/Update Fixed Asset Schedules.
• Record amortization for Prepaid Expenses, Insurance Policies.
• Review Accounts Receivable Bad Debt Reserve.
• Run Month End Inventory Reports forward to Controller, General Manager, Purchasing & Planning Supervisor
• Reconcile Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables Aging Reports to General Ledger.
• Prepare all Primary Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations for AMM EKY, AMM PM for Business Unit Controller review with Upload to Blackline Analytical Website.
• Assist with financial month-end closing by making journal entries with proper source documentation
• Responsible for recording general ledger transactions from various sources under supervision of the Plant Controller
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
• Maintain plant fixed asset records
• Support accounts receivable and payables offsite shared service team as needed
• Work closely with the plant operating team including the General Manager and staff
• Ad-hoc reporting as needed assigned by the Controller
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or an associate degree or accounting certificate
• Demonstrate understanding of accounting concepts and methodologies
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, filtering, sorting and pivot tables)
• Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
• Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative
• Professional business communication skills, including emailing, financial reporting and other department documentation
• Ability to work well autonomously as well as in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently

PREFERRED

• Prior experience in manufacturing
• Ability to quickly learn ERP systems and high degree of IT acumen

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is usually in an office within a manufacturing facility with low to moderate noise level.
