Contributions

As a Senior Business Analyst, leads the collection, capture, and management of mission user needs from prioritization, concept development, and feature writing to support development and deployment as a business analyst subject matter expert. Mentor and provide standards and guidance to business analysts in facilitating the gathering of business-focused requirements to support a product team, and product owner, including defining the backlog and ensuring the user's perspective is considered. Work with the multiple product owners and users to determine the operational objectives of business needs and elicit high level requirements, identify commonalities and dependencies across teams, and decompose large features for assignment to product teams. Focus on requirements to improved usability, user experience, and user adoption and engagement. Identify core business needs, decompose and document concepts of operation, story maps, briefings, and user stories, document business rules, and construct workflow diagrams, as needed. Condense complex business processes into clear and actionable features with acceptance criteria. Work with IT and mission stakeholders to review, update, and maintain a business process roadmap of as-is and to-be system and evaluate areas of reengineering by outlining potential to-be processes.Apply different techniques to facilitate meetings and workshops, create a shared understanding with stakeholders, and engage team-members to produce product and portfolio roadmaps

  • Collaborates with stakeholders and product teams to decompose large epics into features and user stories that can be understood and approved by members of the development team.
  • Facilitate Increment and planning sessions with clients and team members in order to ensure that planned work is well defined, planned, articulated, and understood.
  • Instruct, guide, and mentor business analysts and team members in the usage of Jira for the purposes of planning and tracking of their work in the scrum or kanban Agile methodology.
  • Assist business analysts, team leads, clients, and other team members in the use of Jira as an Agile Lifecycle Management Tool tool to track work within the program across multiple product teams.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in the usage of Jira for reporting of work progress against epics and other larger bodies of work or types of work.
  • Provide guidance, training, and advice on best practices and Agile methods to better plan and execute work within the team.
Qualifications

Required
  • Associates degree in business or related field; or technical degree or diploma in related industry, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in planning, decomposition, and execution of work using Agile methodologies.
  • 5 years of using Jira as a business analyst and/or scrum master.
  • Experience in eliciting, capturing, and refining high level business process requirements across a portfolio of applications supported by multiple product teams.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field; or technical degree or diploma in related industry, or equivalent work experience
  • USCIS Experience
  • Public Trust Background Investigation
  • Possesses at least one of the following professional security certifications:
    • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
    • Certified Scrum Product Owner
