As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you are responsible for the design, development, and operations of the AWS environment that is a central part of our global data and analytics technology stack. Within the newly established Millipore Sigma Data Office you report directly to the Global Head of Data & Analytics Architecture and work closely with the Tech Lead.

Your focus is on implementing and operating a cloud-based (AWS) technology stack for data & analytics hands-on including environments for different user types (e.g. Data Engineers, Data Scientists) based on Infrastructure as Code template. You use your creativity to find innovative, fast, and sustainable solutions while ensuring compliance to regulations (e.g. GxP), scalability, and uptime of our distributed, cloud-based environments. As part of the Engineering team you drive the automation, cost-efficiency, security, compliance, and scalability in close collaboration with your engineering colleagues and the Architecture team.

As the Senior Cloud Engineer for the AWS environment delivering and operating our cloud-native technology stack working, you will work closely with Product Management, Platform Architecture, and Engineering teams within the business. You will drive a fast and agile design and delivery cycle informing and influencing Millipore Sigma's reference architecture through feedback based on your first-hand experience.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Experience with hands-on software development and software delivery including building and securing cloud-native systems.
  • Proficiency and experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation), have experience with good API design practices, Linux containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experienced with version control (git), automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment (also including Continuous Deployment for Machine Learning / CD4ML).
  • Understanding of the landscape of technologies and services required from ingesting, storing, and manipulating data to building advanced analytics, and have in-depth experience and potentially relevant certification with services of major cloud platforms (preferably AWS).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is a plus.
  • Team oriented.
