The Senior Designer, Instructional creates and develops new courses and revisions to existing courses for Brother products, service offerings and systems. The position supports trainers by addressing teaching and learning issues in Customer Service online and facilitated courses. This role is key to identifying the needs of learners, designing, and developing learning experiences, and working with subject matter experts to produce courses that are engaging, effective and efficient and to establish the structure of content and activities including developing assessments, creating and updating instructional materials, and creating media to optimize learning.

Course Design 60%

  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject matter experts
  • Develop, create and manage training content, including defining learning
  • objectives , activities, hands-on exercises, assessments, instructional materials (training manuals, presentations), scenarios, process guides/resources
  • Investigate emerging training and development trends and standards; provide recommendations for adoption to optimize learning
  • Generate the layout of the learning support platforms
  • Create interactive learning courses using audio and visual tools

Analysis and Assessment 25%

  • Perform quarterly review of existing content, prioritize, redevelopment, facilitate the design and redevelopment to ensure courses match the learner or business needs
  • Define and follow course development processes that are evidence based, relevant to the stakeholders, and effective for learning by the target population
  • Assist with the production and maintenance of communication guidelines and standards for trainers and subject matter experts
  • Monitor instructor led training classes to gauge trainer and/or content effectiveness, compliance, and learner engagement


Process, Project and System Management 15%

  • Adhere to the project management processes and manage deadlines
  • Administer learning management system by load content and assessments, maintaining user profiles and permissions, and performing reporting tasks

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in creating training content for in-person or e-learning in the capacity of an Instructional Designer
  • 2 years of Customer Service experience in a high volume face to face environment, or in a inbound customer service center with high volume
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite (Rise, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) or other authoring tools
  • Familiarity with Learning Management System operations
  • Experience in use of Instructional Design models (ADDIE/other) and Adult Learning principles
  • Flexible and agile, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may need to be adjusted based on business needs
