Purpose

Reporting to the CX Development and Delivery Manager for Avangrid Networks the Scrum Master role is a critical member of the project delivery organization taking accountability for one or more Scrum Teams. The Scrum Master ensures that the SCRUM team is well organized, disciplined, self-organized and fosters a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Scrum Master Service to the Product Owner (Business Owner of the Product/Service/Solution)
The Scrum Master supports the Product Owner in several ways, including:
•Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible;
•Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management;
•Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items;
•Understanding product planning in an empirical environment;
•Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value;
•Understanding and practicing agility and facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed.
•Customer Centricity, Design thinking and Innovative and Creative thinking.

Scrum Master support to the Development (Project) Team e.g Application Consultants, Application Analysts, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Technical Architects
The Scrum Master serves the Development Team in several ways, including:
•Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality;
•Helping the Development Team to create high-value products;
•Removing impediments to the Development Team's progress;
•Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed; and,
•Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.
•Contract and financial management of budgets and 3rd Party delivery.

Skills and Requirements

•Experience delivering across multiple teams in a multi-vendor environment.
•Expert knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks including Scrum and Kanban, including theory, rules and practices
•Expert knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence
•Knowledge and experience of tasks, backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, user stories and value metrics
•Evangelist for Agile Continuous integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies
•Prior experience of Scrum Master/Product Owner/Agile Lead/Delivery Lead role in an Agile product development team, be it software or infrastructure - diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
•Experience of delivering Agile based projects in both an Agile and Waterfall context ensuring seamless integration of Agile delivery methods with more traditional models. Broad experience of working in an IT/product delivery team
•Good oral and written communication skills and a willingness to utilize internal communication channels regularly.
•Analyze and be able to deal with finances for the purposes of managing budgets or contracts with suppliers.
•Must be a proven team player to work, promote and consolidate efficient team working relationships.
•Willingness to travel 1 to 2 times quarterly on business.

Education & Experience Required:
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields, OR equivalent work experience.
•The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-8 years of progressively more complex Agile software development experience in a fast paced environment
•Working knowledge of several utility business areas preferred (e.g. Electric Operations, Gas Operations, Customer Service)
•Scrum Certification with a prior experience of delivery using agile methods across multiple SCRUM teams and technology areas.
