As Senior Facilities Engineer you will apply expert level knowledge of engineering principles and practices, make decisions on engineering problems and methods and represent the department to resolve important questions. You will also use advanced techniques, modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of own field and disciplines, including practical field experience. You will handle assignments concerning unusual problems and/or developments, as well.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply expert level knowledge and background of engineering principles to natural gas facilities including, but not limited to; large scale amine treating plants, dehydration plants, compressor stations, and preferably processing plants.
  • Develop, coordinate, and direct critical projects and field engineering assignments that are large and/or complex
  • Provide analysis, design, specification and cost estimates for natural gas treating/processing plants
  • Develop scope of work, manage bid process and facility design/construction
  • Optimize existing plants by gathering operational data and working through plant simulations
  • Review and assess new technology, processes, materials and equipment
  • Frame engineering/operational problems and propose solutions
  • Monitor and support engineering related activities as related to field construction projects
  • Monitor system performance and prepare long and short-term facility plans including costs
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints
  • Initiate or perform engineering studies, proposing solutions, or recommending alternatives
  • Prepare written procedures to facilitate construction, maintenance, pipeline integrity assessments and operation of gas transmission and gathering systems
  • Provide technical support to field on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and present technical reports on projects
  • Contribute to the development of project budgets
  • Conduct studies and analyses to assist in the resolution of engineering-related issues; will assist with developing engineering standards and practices
  • Lead or play a key role in Continuous Improvement (CI) training and apply CI tools and methodologies to improve output of job assignments and work processes
  • Mentor and provide guidance/direction for less experienced personnel

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum)
  • 5 years of facility engineering experience

Other Qualifications

Preferred:
  • Heavy process modeling experience preferred (VMG Sim, ProMax)
  • Experience with sour gas treating
  • Heavy field-level or direct operations experience preferred
  • Processing plant experience preferred

Other Requirements:
  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word, Visio and Access database.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings/schematics and other design documents.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.
  • Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work.
  • Expert knowledge of design, installation, and commissioning of natural gas treating/processing plants

It is crucial to the outcome of job tasks that the employee is able to: talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms extensively.

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Vision requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a business office setting, in a home office, and at a project site. In the course of working at the project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office, but may become loud at the project site.
