Job Title: Senior Facilities Systems Engineer (SHC) for EMCOR at Stanford Health Care

Job Summary: EMCOR Facilities Services (EFS) has an immediate need for a Senior Facilities Systems Engineer in Menlo Park, CA.

Provides complex technical facilities support, including accurate troubleshooting / problem solving for building systems. Leads multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment, processes, utilities, facilities controls and safety/security systems. Works under limited guidance and within broad guidelines and technical standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts of major projects. Uses knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies to analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering program to achieve reliability objectives. Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Participates in the commissioning of new equipment installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Responsible for professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
    • o Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
    • o Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
    • o Assessment of effective asset utilization; remaining useful life
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
  • Reviews subcontractors' proposals for reliability program and submits evaluation for decision.
  • Reviews engineering specifications, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements.
  • Monitors failure data generated by Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for assets to ascertain potential requirement for process improvement.
  • Provides project management of projects as needed following Stanford Health Care Policies and procedures. Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
  • Assists in managing the 5- and 10-year capital plans for facilities for Stanford Health Care and creates individual project submissions as needed.
  • Makes recommendations on complex issues including ambiguous situations, new processes, and standard work to support continuous improvement.
  • Solves escalated operational problems and technical issues that field technicians are unable to troubleshoot
  • May provide some technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering and/or maintenance personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant engineering principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD files, 3 D models and sketches.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
  • Know ledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems; Utility and/or Electrical monitoring systems; SCADA systems; and Enterprise Asset Management System (BMS) or Computer Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) systems.
  • Familiarity with the interdisciplinary nature of healthcare operations

License/Certifications:
  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer License
