The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key contributor to Stenograph's Finance team. This role will assist with fundamental accounting and financial tasks and communication/coordination amongst departments and functions in the company. Responsible for compilation of financial records while adhering to financial policy and direction of the department/Asst Controller/VP of Finance. An active participant in, and driver of, the department's overall operation and initiatives. This individual will be actively involved in financial accounting, reporting, business planning, analysis, and budgeting. Will be tasked with focus on process automation and use of business intelligence to improve use of data, information, and technology to create operational efficiencies, improve reporting accuracies and better inform decision makers with a view to deliver enhanced business performance.

The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with the business and senior management in driving financial forecasting, modeling and analysis, strategic partnership management, supporting BI projects, and reporting deliverables including preparing scorecards and presentations on highlights, lowlights, risk, and opportunities of the business.

The analyst should have ability to comprehend business concepts and ensure these concepts are delivered as meaningful analytics. The analyst will facilitate design and concept gathering and assist in the creation of new reports or analytics.

The analyst should be skilled in leading and driving process improvement projects, leveraging technology to streamline and automate processes, and deliver time saving efficiencies. Finally, the analyst should be experienced with problem-solving and conflict resolution to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Key contributor in execution of month-end close entries to assure management that financial information is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Analyze financial data and trends utilizing reporting systems and technology to compare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial information to budgeted and prior year results. Identifies and analyzes significant variances, providing meaningful financial commentary.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, monthly financial statements, and management reporting packages.
  • Drive best practices in how to leverage ERP system and reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze SaaS product performance and financials against industry benchmarks, providing insights to sales, marketing, and management teams.
BI Analysis and Reporting
  • Design, develop, and maintain management reports including but not limited to PowerBI, to enhance decisions making abilities and measure impact of initiatives.
  • Work with different levels within the sales and marketing organization to gather information and data points on key initiatives to create business cases and analyze ongoing business performance of new and existing products.
  • Perform in-depth revenue analysis and commentary on key variances vs. targets and vs. prior months/years, making recommendations for future action as required.
  • Develop monthly operational reporting and collaborate with stakeholders to determine key highlights, lowlights, and accomplishments for review and discussion at the weekly/monthly management meetings.
  • Introduce new analysis, reporting formats, etc. which provide insights to different areas of the business.
  • Using historical and projected operating information, assist the Finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning cycles.
Process Ownership and Improvement
  • Identify and recommend improvements to current processes, with a focus on increased process automation and efficiency.
  • Leverage technologies such as Microsoft PowerApps to improve internal business processes,
  • Own both Commissions and Fixed Assets - from calculations to reporting. Lead project to streamline these for improved controls and transparency.
Special Projects
  • Participate in Internal and External Financial Audits, including preparation of information and documentation necessary to satisfy audit requirements.
  • Assist with testing and development of internal controls as it relates to the control self-assessment (CSA) database for the company. Ensure a strong internal control environment.
  • Active participant in the development / documentation of finance-related procedures, processes, and administration.
  • Support the Assistant Controller / VP of Finance on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to Management based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze working capital for both cash flow and forecasting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of a BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in SaaS finance and metrics, a plus
  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence Tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Cliq, a plus).
  • Financial Planning and Analysis, Budget, and Forecasting.
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize work with a focus on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ability to conduct and/or lead multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • An effective communicator, with solid oral and written skills.
  • Solid analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving.
  • Proficient Knowledge of ERP, FP&A, and Ad Hoc reporting solutions (Workday Adaptive FP&A, Cloud or JET Reporting is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience in Office365, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, PowerApps, MS Navision/D365 is a plus.
  • Highly motivated and able to work in a dynamic team environment.
