About the Data Systems Organization:

The Data Systems team focuses on accelerating data maturity by driving automated and confident data driven decisions through the delivery of data literacy and technical capabilities that enable effective data and model management. As part of the global Retail Technology Platforms Organization, our efforts support the building and deployment of scalable, leverageable capabilities and systems for the whole of the Walmart enterprise. We protect customer, associate, and partner data, ensuring privacy and security when collecting and using data.

Position Description:

As part of the Data Systems team, this role will be an enabler of our journey to be the world's leading data-driven retailer. The strategy and operations role leads high-impact projects to accelerate our data initiatives, defines strategic direction, and optimizes business operations. This team works with senior leadership from across all functions to help solve the biggest business challenges and make an impact every day.

We are looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, team-oriented individual to drive strategic and operational initiatives in the Data Systems team. This role will work cross-functionally to define the strategic approach of enterprise data initiatives (e.g. Data Management, Third Party Data, Data Sharing, Enterprise Data Products, etc.), manage the portfolio, including the oversight of programs and projects, communications, and change initiatives, and support the management of Data Systems operations, including operational planning and financial forecasting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the company's leadership to define, launch, and drive strategic and operational initiatives
  • Structure and execute initiatives by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses and developing final recommendations
  • Coordinate across stakeholders in various functions to ensure alignment; establish operating models and program governance for decision making
  • Communicate recommendations to senior management and to the broader organization; drive recommendations through to implementation and results
  • Coordinate business reviews, leadership offsites, and executive communications as required
  • Develop and manage reporting to provide visibility on team accomplishments and progress
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in strategy, program management, business operations, or other relevant experience
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment; excellent relationship-building skills and strong cross-group collaboration
  • Strong adaptability and ability to work in ambiguity
  • In-depth understanding of organizational data flow and its use in management decision-making
  • Working knowledge of modeling in Excel and advanced Power-Point skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills - presence to introduce and champion key ideas
  • Self-directed, well organized, and good follow-up skills
  • Detail oriented with ability to work, develop, and think at a strategic level
  • Driven to work with the teams to dig into data, processes, and issues
  • Deep curiosity and strong interest in learning something new


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters in Business Administration
  • Experience in retail and/or data management
  • Experience working with technology teams

Preferred Qualifications...

Experience in Technology area will be an add on, Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Finance, Strategy, or related area and 5 Years of relevant experience in Retail, eCommerce, Strategy, Operations, Management Consulting or related area.
