Be a part of cutting-edge research, engage with professionals who share your passion, and create work you can be proud of. As a Senior Outreach and Community Benefits Specialist, you will contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following:

  • Integrate stakeholder outreach and engagement regarding:
    • Community benefits.
    • Workforce development.
    • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).
  • Implement environmental justice concepts with technical information and applied research related to resource recovery, power generation, emissions reduction, renewable energy systems, and novel techniques related to energy and environmental research.
  • Use innate skills and willingness to learn and be trained in regulatory, policy, and permitting that involves the world-changing energy strategies for both renewable and fossil energy production sources.
  • Support the integration of stakeholder outreach and community benefit aspects into research, development, demonstration, and commercialization projects. Willing to train individuals with outstanding work ethic, team-oriented attitude, and aptitude.
  • Show a productive work ethic and diversity in ideas to a team of experts working in cutting-edge energy and environmental areas.
  • Develop and implement project-based outreach plans, including engagement strategies and content in a variety of formats for project-specific needs.
  • Stay up to date on concept-related news and information, community benefits content, and technical aspects of several research projects.
  • Compile information and develop messaging to address stakeholder concerns.
  • Work with project teams and EERC clients to communicate stakeholder engagement strategies and information on solutions that enable prudent and economic production of fossil fuels and renewable and alternative energy; reduce the carbon intensity of energy production; and assist stakeholders in understanding the benefits, risks, and regulatory implications of energy.
  • Conduct all work in accordance with specified timelines, budget, and project task manager expectations.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate, through virtual and in-person meetings, project updates, procedures, methods, and progress to stakeholders that could include internal EERC project teams, project managers, clients, and external colleagues in the scientific community (i.e., conferences).
  • Prepare information to be used for briefings, technical reports, conference papers, peer-reviewed journal articles, and outreach materials to communicate technical results to clients, the public, and the scientific community. Support and collaborate with EERC subject matter experts, project managers, and proposal leads in the on time, on budget quality execution of scopes of work.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in technical communications, English, journalism, social sciences, engineering, physical sciences, anthropology, or related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience in writing technical-to-general audience communication.
  • Experience creating and reviewing reports in a technical field.
  • Up to 25% travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing abstracts, technical reports, conference papers, peer-reviewed journal articles, webpages, and outreach materials to communicate technical results to clients, the public, and the scientific community.
  • Experience in planning, reviewing, coordinating, and reporting while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience working with federal and contract funded projects.
  • Experience working on energy or environmental topics.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
