This position supports the PICA Group, which provides professional liability coverage for dentists, podiatrists and chiropractors, as well as Lawyercare.

Preference is for this position to be fully remote and based in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah or Washington.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Regional Business Development Executive (Sr. RBDE) is to sell new business products to prospective clients, using a consultative approach across a multi-state region. Sales calls should be primarily conducted through face to face, telephonic and web meetings with individual practitioners, groups, associations, and trade show events. Coordinate with underwriting to expedite the sale, and effectively managing the sales process from application to issuance; all while creating an extraordinary experience for the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

70% - Responsible for execution of the annual Business Development Plan:

  • Co Develops annual sales plan by distribution channel.
  • Implements and executes sales and marketing strategies for assigned territory and, national footprint including agency channel and ecommerce.
  • Develop and implement specific sales plans, monitor performance, and adjust sales plan activities to ensures pipeline for future profitable growth in direct, agency and ecommerce channels.
  • Lead follow up from campaigns, cancellation reports, trade shows and conferences.
  • Analyze and prepare information to expedite underwriting decisions, requirements, supporting documentation and communicate the same to prospects.
  • Educate and respond to prospect questions and drive effective customer relationships.
  • Drive effective relationships and customer activities to build trust, facilitate negotiations and secure buying commitment.
  • Use broad array of insurance concepts and strategies involving risk selection, company financials, pricing factors, and impact of industry trends and issues.
  • Create and implement territory specific improvement plans, as necessary.

20% - Business Development Team Support:
  • Take an active lead in cross-functional teams representing business development, underwriting, operations, and IT.
  • Take an active lead in PICA Group strategic projects, including design and implementation of end-to-end processes.
  • Deliver expected results of increased top line growth, bottom line expense savings and improve the overall ROI.
  • A continuous focus on operational excellence, which contributes to, streamlined efficiencies, and contributes to colleagues being more effective in their roles.
  • Lead team in creating their 90-day plans and influences teammates to take appropriate action to achieve results.
  • Asserts themselves in a leadership role in team and production meetings. Outside of meetings, initiates activities in support of team objectives.
  • Attendance at trade shows and conferences, association meetings, in support of all lines of business.
  • Integrate Professional Sales Training throughout sales process.
  • Support profitable growth through the selection, follow up, and issuance of preferred leads.
  • Leads team in new business policy counts and/or new premium on a consistent basis. Ability to demonstrate territory growth year over year.
  • Ability to mentor, train and develop teammates in the sales process.

5% - Collaboration and New Opportunities:
  • Execute on marketing campaigns to drive new sales and document in POS systems and execute on territorial business plans.
  • Responsible to enter customer and transaction information accurately into the POS systems.
  • Monthly territory analysis of trends, results, and competitor information to drive new sales.
  • Collaborate and drive enterprise interactions and initiatives.
  • Take ownership to achieve plan.
  • Anticipates competitor products and services and adapts team approach to achieve a marketplace advantage.
  • Encourages team input regarding marketplace intelligence to modify plan and execute market strategy.
  • Business travel may be up to 50%.

5% - Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate strong sales follow-up, organizational skills, and POS documentation.
  • Ability to manage change positively and convey change principles.
  • Ability to work through conflict resolution and corrective actions.
  • Secure and maintain current competitor information.
  • Attend training and educational seminars for professional development.
  • Perform special projects as directed by management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and Advanced degree required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of insurance sales and/or production underwriting experience in any industry required, plus a minimum of 2 years of MPL experience in any industry required.
  • Property Casualty License.
  • Certification CIC/CPCU/DC/DPM, etc. required.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage advanced degree to drive increased sales or position organization/brand uniquely in the marketplace.
  • Goal-oriented, ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Proven sales track record.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Works well in a team environment, balancing individual, and team priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
