Job Description

GM is looking for a Sensing System Engineer to help us support our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy and lead the development and verification of automated driving sensor technologies.

In this position, you will have the chance to work at the intersection of hardware, software and automated driving technology and have a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Participate or lead cross functional development team (System, SW, DRE) discussions to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers for any sensor performance related topic
  • Analyze and negotiate sensors requirements with internal and external stakeholders throughout product development and integration. Focus on Camera or Lidar sensors.
  • Work closely with sensor DRE and suppliers
  • Control and update sensor release plan dates (getting the dates from DRE and reflect it to perception/Data teams)
  • Understand the content of each release
  • Escort sensors release and integration through the program life cycle
  • Define KPIs + Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Define SW driver requirements
  • Lead internal integration effort with SW team
  • Coordinate sensor installation and data collection activities
  • Approve DC vehicle sensor suit release (alignment, sync, interference, functional tests, integration tests)
  • Support and develop analysis tools to verify sensor data in any point of data pipe (Matlab/Python compare sensor data)
  • Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains

Additional Job Description

Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 2+ years experience as SE in Camera/LiDAR domain as part of R&D team or large multidisciplinary project
  • Capable to write requirements documentation for acceptance tests, integration plan of SW models that will interact with the sensor
  • Strong understanding of automated driving and active safety sensors technology and the sensor output stakeholders (e.g. Perception, Fusion)
  • Hands on sensor integration and troubleshooting
  • Well familiar with Lab test equipment
  • Hands on Matlab/Python for data analysis
  • Understanding of automated driving and active safety sensors technology
  • Project and Time Management: Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a commitment to the tasks at hand
  • Problem Solving: Able to identify problems, analyze varying courses of action to determine, recommend and negotiate optimal solutions and execute contingency plans
  • Complex Analysis / Synthesis: Able to process a large amount of information flow, identify multiple parameters, interdependencies and inconsistencies to provide both high-level systems overview and deep subject matter expertise
  • Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills
