Service Fusion is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead our engineering team. You will report directly to the President; you will have a significant opportunity to influence business strategy and organizational culture, will be involved in every aspect of the product delivery process, and will shape the future for a fast-growing organization that has quickly carved out a leadership position in its market. You will own the technology stack and software development life cycle from soup to nuts - leading the development process, system architecture, and infrastructure, and ultimately delivering awesome products that users love.

You:
You're a hands-on technical leader with a passion for technology leadership and delivering on time and under budget. You have a proven track record of delivering platform improvements in a complex, high velocity environment. You have strong web and mobile development leadership experience, and have experience working closely with both product leadership and senior business leadership. You like leading teams and thrive working in a creative, fast-paced, highly structured environment.In addition, experience in managing a distributed team is a plus.

Us:
Founded in 2014, Service Fusion, an EverCommerce company, serves nearly 5,500 field service contractors in over 20 residential and commercial service verticals with mission-critical business management software. While the largest segments of the customer base are HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair contractors, our target customer is "anyone in a truck who comes to your home or business to perform a service." Service Fusion allows such contractors to operate their business from anywhere with enterprise-level features at a small business price.

Where:
We are housed in a 20K square foot, open floor plan office in Irving, TX, and we even have our own game room. We're a short car ride from downtown Dallas, a shorter car ride to Las Colinas, and an even shorter car ride to DFW Airport. Our ideal candidate will already be local to the DFW Metroplex, and open to commuting to our office in Irving.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the technical visionary for the Company and the engineering teams
  
• Lead and optimize the day-to-day operations of the development, QA, and infrastructure teams to predictably deliver high-quality, scalable software; in other words, execution excellence
  
• Work closely with the product team to provide guidance on and execution against the product roadmap
  
• Manage and optimize the technical infrastructure of the company
  
• Provide guidance, vetting, and ultimate signoff on architectural decisions
  
• Drive continuous improvement and modernization across the Company's platforms
  
• Attract, retain, mentor, and develop an outstanding and motivated team
  

Success Milestones:

• 90 Days
  
  • Complete full review of current software development methodology and provide go-forward recommendation to the President
    
  • Develop enough familiarity and fluency in our technical infrastructure as well as our entire product suite to transition our Founder fully out of day-to-day development activities
    

• 120 Days
  
  • Develop strategic plan for continuous improvement across the engineering team
    
  • Develop strategic plan for continuous improvement across the technical stack (automated testing, modernization, efficiencies, etc.)
    

Required Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a background in B2B SaaS technical management with a growth-stage company and personal characteristics that complement the team.

• 10+ years of technical leadership experience
  
• Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful software lifecycle - development teams, QA teams, DevOps teams, architecture teams, and infrastructure teams
  
• Proven track record of successfully managing - as well as deep fluency in - software development methodologies
  
• Proven track record of working successfully with a professionalized product delivery operation
  
• Proven track record of hiring entry and mid-level engineering, architecture, and infrastructure resources
  
• A self-starter with a "get it done" attitude, capable of driving projects to completion
  
• Impeccable integrity and ethical standards.
  
• High energy, participatory style
  

Highly desired background:

• Demonstrable experience with PHP, Python, Vue.js, Angular, Redis, MySQL (Aurora), as well as CI, automated testing, and general AWS infrastructure management
  
• Experience with critical, high-usage front-end products (e.g. workflow management software)
  
• Experience in the field service industry
  
• Experience in a high-growth SMB environment
