Summary

Set-Up Tech I is responsible for performing the complete mold change process including mold/supply preparation in advance, mold removal, mold installation and secondary equipment set-up, clean up, and organization. Set-up Tech 1 personnel are responsible for clean-up of machine and surrounding areas, including proper clean up and storage of all mold change materials and supplies. Basic Pultrusion mold processing skills required.
Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Load and unload raw materials for core production.
  • Set up, run, adjust, and change dies and equipment.
  • Ensures that molds are properly prepped in advance.
  • Ensures that molds being pulled are properly shut down and prepped for transportation to the mold shop.
  • Sets up all auxiliary equipment, label and traverse end piece machine related to each job change.
  • Set up reels for proper feeding of finished core material.
  • Effectively perform shift changeovers by preparing and cleaning any available equipment/supplies to minimize downtime.
  • Comply with safety and operating policies and procedures regarding equipment, materials, and finished goods.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Communicate with team members to assure complete understanding of directions, issues, problems, changes, or other challenges.
  • Recognize and report any problems, issues, discrepancies, or questions to Manager/Supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Measure, weigh, and mix resin materials in conformance with specifications and procedures.
  • Set up raw materials for new production runs.
  • Remove product, machine attachments, and waste material from machinery.
  • Understands all procedures associated with the handling of hazardous waste and other trash generated by the department.
  • Monitor reels to ensure core material is wrapping consistently.
  • Recognize characteristics of resins and epoxies.
  • Maintain maximum efficiency in the department
  • Assists as needed in performing start-ups, changes, relieving for breaks, etc. as assigned by shift supervisor.
  • Must have reliable and consistent attendance as well as be punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), operating and maintenance instructions, and any relevant manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Some basic computer skills are required for documentation and record keeping of test/run data.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individual must have basic knowledge of the Pultrusion Molding process and the Mold Set-Up process. Individual must also have a basic understanding of the molds, materials and machinery related to Pultrusion molding process.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to read and interpret gauges and record measurements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Previous mechanical/electrical/hydraulics training or experience helpful.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have valid class C license for forklift certification
