The Department of Administrative Service's Capitol Commission is looking to fill a Small Engine Specialist position for the State of Nebraska! This position requires skilled journey-level work in the repair and maintenance of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and vehicles utilized by the Capitol Commission regularly. Additionally, this position assists the Capitol Commission in snow removal in the winter and grounds maintenance throughout the seasons.

Examples of Work
This position is responsible for the repair of grounds vehicles and equipment including tune-up of engines, adjusting, assembly overhaul, and electrical and cooling system repairs. This position will also replace broken or worn parts as needed. Perform and keep records of regular preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Additionally, this position will assist as needed with performing grounds-keeping duties such as mowing, spraying, trimming, and snow removal. Tools for this position will be provided. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: An eighth grade education or equivalent plus three years practical work experience in auto mechanics or vocational technical school and auto related work experience.
PREFERRED: Associates degree or related formal training in Auto Mechanics. Training and or experience in diesel engines.
OTHER: Valid driver's license is required along with regular and reliable attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Basic automotive maintenance, repair and service; use of basic hand tools and test equipment. Ability to: Operate tools and equipment; understand and follow instructions.
