Job Description Summary:
We have an immediate need for a seasoned software engineer with extensive expertise in payments to support the world's best payments platform.

Job Description:

The Payments Live Operations is a dedicated triage and live support function that supports over 1 billion transactions per month on our payments platforms and support PayPal, Braintree, Venmo and over 70+ external ecosystem partners. This team triages over 300+ issues per month to ensure that we can properly route these issues to the proper team to expedite service restoration.

We operate the world's best payments platform 24x7 that supports bank, card, reward, and PayPal balance transactions using a network of 40+ external real-time payment processing partners from around the world.

You will be responsible for quickly and accurately triage production reported issues. You will partner with our customer and merchant agents, architecture, platform, and engineering colleagues and PayPal partners and processors to bring faster resolution to production issues and restore customer experience.

You will also be part of a team rotation providing 24x7 PP&E Live Support. You will be required to work a week rotation once per month that provides on-call support for production issues. You will be required to work weekends/nights/holidays during this rotation. These outcomes will be measured in reduced Open on Live bug counts.

You will also have the opportunity to work on tools development, metrics reporting and fixing live issues.

This position is based in Scottsdale, AZ and may travel of up to 15%, to PayPal locations (including international offices may be required).
  • Development experience in Java, C++, APIs, Services
  • Work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to triage and identity the right owner to fix the production issues
  • Ability to engage and drive communication with our PayPal partners and processors/vendors
  • Responsible for analyzing existing monitoring, alerting, and be an escalation point for production issues and responsible for driving them resolution
  • Share on-call responsibilities (inclusive of weekend/nights/holidays)
  • Ability to work well with team members to achieve end vision
  • Ability to articulate clearly on production issues and keep management informed
  • Be able to independently design, code and test tools to support the Live Ops/Support function, as well as lead small projects
  • Leadership skills
  • Experience with ticket software such as Service Now, Jira, Networking, Unix
  • Experience with escalation processes
  • Payments or financial industry experience
  • Tools development
  • Bug fixing
