Elsevier Health Technology is developing the next generation of clinical decision support and research tools that will empower data scientists to tackle global health problems now facing the world. We are fusing world class data/content with big data, machine learning technology, analytics, and predictive approaches to help facilitate the creation, and deployment of knowledge for use by clinicians to improve diagnosis and treatment.

Reporting to the Software Engineering Lead we now require a talented, 'hands-on' full-stack Software Engineer to be part of a small development squad on this highly mission-driven, innovative healthcare technology platform focused on developing our federated data lake solution and data access controls for working with sensitive healthcare data. Our squads enjoy full autonomy regarding how they go about delivering against long and short-term goals, helping to ensure alignment and quality.

This project enjoys a particularly high-profile within Elsevier and you will be supported to grow your development/engineering skills in collaboration with our diverse, supportive team.

Preferred experience and technology requirements:

  • 3+ years progressive experience operating as a Software Engineer delivering quality software in an Agile environment
  • Strong hands-on, application development experience using Java and/or Python.
  • Experience developing containerized microservices using Docker
  • Experience developing for the cloud (AWS/Azure)
  • Experience building unit tests.
  • Experience developing secure code for database applications desirable
  • Strong communication skills and commercial awareness.
