The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Senior Central Cancer Registry Specialist to work on the UHealth Campus. The Senior Central Cancer Registry Specialist identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients through the use of a registry data system. Further, the Senior Central Cancer Registry Specialist analyzes data and releases information in compliance with policies and standards.


  • Works with reporting sources to resolve general or technical questions and issues that may arise.

  • Processes abstracts from assigned reporting sources and when discrepancies are identified contacts source directly.

  • Monitors cancer case reporting and looks for trends.

  • Create a database of patients with specific diagnoses of leukemia and related myeloid malignancies.

  • Collect data from electronic medical records, tumor registries, tumor boards, social security databases, or other databases.

  • Respond to queries for available data on patient subsets.

  • Merge data from clinical databases, pathology databases, and genetic databases.

  • Generate statistical reports on database content. Interact with statisticians, research team, and clinical team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Professional Coding Specialist

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
