The Sr. Civil Engineer will be responsible for the assessment and impact planning related to site due diligence, preliminary layout and final engineering design of photovoltaic power plants. This position will be responsible for site evaluation and will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop site background design parameters and the design of site array layouts. Focus will be on storm water drainage and grading compliance, water quality, monitoring, and planning of photovoltaic power plant projects worldwide before, and during construction.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Interface closely with development, engineering and construction teams
  • Support business development and operations by preparing design calculations and engineering drawings (or having them prepared by an outside consulting firm)
  • Travel to project sites and present site evaluation/assessment reports
  • Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls
  • Provide verbal and written project status updates and reports
  • Drive total lifecycle costs lower through innovation and standardization
  • Ensure final documentation is accurate and complete for all project work
  • Demonstrate creative skills to solve complex site arrangement problems
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of design and engineering experience in land development. PV background a plus.
  • PE License Required
  • Strong Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Grading experience
  • Min 5 years design/drafting experience for land development, Civil 3D experience required
  • Site feasibility evaluations and assessments, and constructability evaluation
  • Familiarity with the site development process and permitting requirements.
  • Individual proficient in Hydrology, Storm water Management Software preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, databases and other discipliner related design programs such as, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in electronic processing and filing of drawings, specifications, budgets, reports, project schedules and other documents.
Education:
  • BS in Civil Engineering required

  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
  • Evaluation of standard and non-standard costs
  • Ability to complete survey verification and zoning compliances
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Creative thinker with the ability to make decisions and execute effectively
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated people skills, both inside and outside the project team
  • Good time management skills and demonstrated efficiency in providing engineering support on multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering and construction
  • Ability to perform standard civil engineering discipline mathematical calculations and equations, including but not limited to geotechnical analysis, Hydrology & Hydraulic calculations, wind analysis, site development drawings etc.
  • Design/drafting experienced in land development design/drafting in Civil 3D 2007 required
  • Ability to effectively direct and manage detailed civil design work performed by outside consultants.

Physical Requirements:
  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
