Overview

Mechanical Engineering position responsible for design and development of products. Perform standard assignments, which are of moderate technical complexity and represent a significant portion of a larger project. Independently select engineering techniques and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices and programs.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and develop Special Service Tools in support of client Tool Program.
  2. Create 3D Models and 2D Mechanical Drawings (CAD).
  3. Gather tool requirements and application information.
  4. Develop tooling concepts and solutions.
  5. Develop Tool mock-ups, prototypes (e.g. 3D printing).
  6. Coordinate with machine shops and other suppliers for prototype fabrication.
  7. Test and validate tools on vehicles or vehicle subsystems.
  8. Document legacy tools where existing documentation is deficient.

DUTIES:
  1. Perform routine tasks, which are closely supervised to provide experience and familiarization with group.
  2. Use readily available references to determine solutions to problems.
  3. Collect and evaluate data and develop plans for assignments that may involve design application.
  4. Generate recommendations and conclusions with guidance for product improvements.
  5. Participate with drafters, technicians and others to contribute to project completion.
  6. Follow company policies and procedures.
  7. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred Mechanical) or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  2. 3-5 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering / 3D CAD.
  3. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Autodesk inventor preferred).
  4. Basic knowledge of Electrical systems, electrical troubleshooting a plus.
  5. Hands-on Automotive assembly or repair experience Preferred.
  6. Understanding of engineering principles, machining, injection molding.
  7. Experience in vehicle communications protocols a plus.
  8. Analysis and problem solving skills.
  9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  10. Organization and time management skills.
  11. Team Player.
  12. Adaptable to change.
