Sr Software Engineer, Machine Control
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering who gets excited about driving the development of how our leading abrasive waterjet machines move so our customers can make cool and incredible things. Is this you?
The leading manufacturer of Waterjet cutting solutions, OMAX, is looking for a Sr Software Engineer to join the engineering team and contribute to the future of abrasive Waterjet tools at our 100% associate-owned, global leader in advanced cutting solutions and technologies company. You will contribute to the development of industry-leading abrasive waterjet machining tools, including CAM and controls applications, 2D/3D CAD applications, camera and machine vision applications, machine simulation, diagnostic tools, data collection applications, and user interfaces.

Position Overview
This position will be part of a small team responsible for developing software for industry-leading abrasive waterjet machining tools. This position will work with the team to write software and firmware to add new features and functions to our abrasive waterjet machine tools. You will be writing software that controls multi-axis machine motion, actuation of mechanisms, and inter-process communication.
Who you are and the experience you bring

  • Design software and embedded firmware to add new capabilities to our abrasive waterjet machines.
  • Contribute to the design of software and firmware architecture
  • Own and execute projects to conceptualize, design, prototype, and provide proof of concept for a next generation control system
  • Contribute to all aspect of software development. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements and specifications, design and development, coding and debugging, testing, and integration of embedded devices and systems
  • Develop and maintain user interface code
  • Develop, debug and test software solutions on OMAX waterjet cutting tables
  • Create test plans for software testers
  • Ensure software quality and reliability objectives are met through manual/automated testing, unit testing, code reviews and other tools and processes
  • Work and interface with cross-functional design teams
  • Create documentation for code and features
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in writing software for machine control
  • Proficiency in C/C#/C++
  • Experience supporting all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of object-oriented development
  • Familiarity with firmware and embedded programming
  • Understanding of real-time software concerns like multi-threading and concurrency
  • Experienced with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
  • Familiarity with machine tools, tool pathing, and/or robotics
  • Experience in Delphi programming language (maintenance of existing/legacy applications)
