The Mission

The Americas NanoPort team runs a state-of-the-art Electron Microscopy Centre of Excellence, supporting account managers and external Thermo Fisher Scientific customers in the Science and Industry markets. Key goals of the NanoPort team are to deliver high-quality Customer Applications Training and Support, and to conduct carefully prepared Product and Workflow Demonstrations.

How will you make an impact?

The Applications Scientist in the Semiconductor DualBeam team is responsible for providing technical expertise in support of Thermo Fisher Scientific's sales efforts.

What will you do?

  • Performing high quality DualBeam product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for customers, particularly those in the Semiconductor marketplace.
  • Establishing and implementing methodologies across product portfolios within the DualBeam domain to drive demonstration excellence across the global NanoPort.
  • Providing expert technical leadership, through all stages of the sales cycle, with a strong understanding of key business processes.
  • Providing SME level support for current team and incoming team members.
  • Supporting and training customers after the sale and installation of the microscope, including authoring and maintaining supporting training material.
  • Acting as the primary communication conduit to the factory by reporting engineering and production issues from the customer.
  • Providing continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing and development teams on future product developments.
How Will You Get Here?

This position is ideal for an experienced scientist wanting to be involved in and mentor a diverse team and be exposed to a wide variety of customer application areas. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
  • Requires a University degree in Chemistry, Physics or Electrical Engineering. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10 or more years of proven experience in a relevant position within the Semiconductor industry with ongoing experience using DualBeam technology is preferred.
  • Hands on experience with 200 and 300 WDBs including, FIB gas chemistries, TEM prep, STEM, ASV and EBSD is preferred.
  • Semiconductor knowledge such as FAB yield and quality, root cause FA, electrical probing, metallization, and backside techniques are all a plus.
  • Knowledge of sophisticated technology diagnostics as well as troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment, specifically, electron/ion microscopes.
  • Excellent and clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience are critical to the success of this position.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills a must
  • Consistent track record of interacting across multi-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Ability to travel both domestically internationally (up to 50%), possession of a valid passport.
