Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with members of the Advanced Research & Technology, Commercial, and Clinical teams to support novel technology in early-stage research.
  • Be accountable for team deliverables across multiple departments in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
  • Develop, drive, track and report on integrated program plans, detailed project schedules, critical path analysis, project and product risks, and program deliverables
  • Work alongside Product Management and Advanced Technology to successfully navigate ambiguity and drive strong program foundations
  • Coordinate activities and resources across multiple departments, including Marketing, R&D, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs and Legal.
  • Demonstrate ability, confidence, and strong communication skills to lead project, portfolio, and status meetings with internal cross-functional teams, external partners, and senior executives
  • Provide guidance on priorities, scheduling, and resolution of open issues, while maintaining compliance in a regulated product development environment
  • Work directly with corporate partners, consultants, vendors and customers, as appropriate

Business and Financial Acumen
  • Accountable for developing and managing to a project budget including capital expenditure, expenses and headcount.
  • Links project goals and objectives to commercial and financial outcomes
  • Ensures alignment of business objectives to the program scope and plan
  • Leads program planning process ensuring discovery is driven by market needs

Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to convey technical, business, and program/portfolio information clearly and effectively through documentation, reports, presentations, and meetings to project teams and senior management
  • Previous direct involvement in leading Medical Device product and/or technology development
  • Successful project management experience of novel technology in early-stage research environments
  • Highly motivated, customer-centric leader who thrives in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence people and teams at levels without direct authority.
  • Proven success building employee engagement; creating, communicating and building understanding of a shared vision.
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision making, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and ambiguity to drive clarity and deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience as a program/project manager
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
  • Advanced (ie Masters, PhD) degree in relevant technical discipline preferred
  • Familiarity with key FDA medical device regulations (IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external partner relationships
  • In-depth knowledge of the product development process and medical device design control requirements, including a working knowledge of GMP's and ISO standards
  • Proficiency in Smartsheets or MS Project, and MS Office suite including Visio
  • Ability to conduct scientific, engineering, business and program calculations
  • Ability to prepare for and lead technical reviews and decision meetings. Can clearly document options and trade-offs to facilitate problem solving

Travel Required:
  • Up to 25%

Functional Description

Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services. Oversees multiple interconnected, complex projects, coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, and focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products. Monitors the program from initiation through commercialization including planning and directing schedules and monitoring budget/spending to ensure successful program outcomes. May develop, define and execute project plans, identify resources, define and assign major roles, and interface with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Masters degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Functional/Business Knowledge

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of technical principles and theories. Recommends solutions in support of functional objectives tied to overall company objectives and strategies.

Scope

  • Demonstrates significant technical expertise, collaboration with others and independent thought. Anticipates potential complex problems requiring an in-depth evaluation. Demonstrates strategic thinking and commercial/industry understanding in functional projects.

Judgement

  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other colleagues.

Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Flex. Based on the nature of your position you will be working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week from collaborative space and hoteling desks at our Dexcom sites. You will need to be located within commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.
