Position Details
The Recovery Specialist works under supervision of the Program Manager with ancillary supervision by a staff who is certified as a Peer Supervisor. The Recovery Specialist is an active member of the D&A team that provides holistic treatment to clients. The Recovery Specialist provides peer support services, to include individual and group supportive counseling, to clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a manner that is healthy for the client gain and maintain independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. The Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model to clients by exhibiting competency in their personal recovery.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

High School Diploma
•
One (1) year of experience working in a recovery setting.
•
Certificate of completion as a Peer. Registered as a peer specialist with the Virginia Board of Health Professionals.
•
Must be knowledge of community resources, active in personal recovery, possess effective verbal and written communication skills, and have a general understanding of a relapse recovery plan.
