Job Description

The Role

GM is accelerating on a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation. The VIP SIT - Support & Automation Developer in the Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) - Software Integration Team (SIT) will put you at the forefront of this transformation. In-vehicle software is changing and evolving at an ever-increasing rate. The VIP SIT - Support & Automation Developer is responsible for designing and developing testing solutions as well as running the Support and Automation Scrum. This will give you the opportunity to express your creativity when it comes to root causing deeply embedded software issues. Additionally, it will test your project management skills by hosting the Scrum. High level of communication skills, both written and spoken is a must. There is no "standard work" for the unexpected, but it is expected that we learn from the past and catalogue our test methodologies for future application. Together we can ensure our higher risk launches are on-time and with quality.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and creates technical solutions for testing - including the specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, development, and deployment
  • Coach a cross functional team in finding the root cause of software issues
  • Provide, communicate, and support common best practices for VIP Testing
  • Perform PCB layouts and builds
  • Leverage Consumer Embedded Electronics to rapidly launch testing leveraging mechatronics skills
  • Experienced with rapid prototyping technologies
  • Leverages technicians to help scale up/harden homebuilt testing setups
  • Runs the Support & Automation Scrum to ensure there are no blockers
  • Consults with Support and Automation Lead for Guidance

Additional Job Description

Requirements
  • BS in Engineering with strong understanding of Software and Controls
  • 2 years experience in software/controls
  • Experience with vehicle electrical architecture and serial data
  • Experience with software debugging tools & methodologies
  • Experience with troubleshooting distributed control systems
  • Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools such as Simulink, vehicle serial data logger tools
  • Proactive / results driven individual with high levels of initiative to work with multiple organizations to solve integration issues
  • High level analytical ability to resolve unusual and complex problems
  • Able to deal with high level of ambiguity
  • This role will require on-site support at both Milford(95%) and Warren(5%)
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Practical usage of Circuit Design Software
  • Practical usage of Rapid Prototyping
  • History of assembling Electronic Prototypes

Desired Skills
  • 5 years experience in software/controls
  • Experience with Vehicle Intelligence Platform
  • Experience with Data Logging & Automation
  • Participated in Agile Development
  • Has written SW for consumer electronics (RaspPi, Arduino, STM32)
  • Experience with Vehicle Controller hardware design
  • Engineering Project Management (ie: PDT, PIT Lead, SWIL, Scrum Lead)
  • Hobbyist in electronics
