Role

We are seeking experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking engineers tosupport the VMEC organization in the development of our newly formed Systems and Agile Portfolio Management team. This individual will be a key interface with program teams and Lean Portfolio Management process for the Vehicle Motion Embedded Control (VMEC) organization. They will work with the program teams to understand new systems and customer facing features for future vehicle applications, gather program specific requirements, generate a controls content list, and perform a gap analysis to identify and understand new controls content. They will act as the point contact for the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Lean Portfolio Management process, as well as interface with affected function owners and controls and software teams to perform risk and workload estimates. They will also support the development and decomposition of requirements to product development teams, ensuring traceability and execution. In addition, this individual will often fill the role of Epic Owner for significant new control systems, shepherding the development of the new Epic through the Portfolio Kanban.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with program teams to generate the application specific controls content List
  • Perform feature/function gap analysis to identify new content that is not currently supported within the vehicle motion embedded controls portfolio
  • Execute systems engineering methods and processes to decompose changes into functionality and associated acceptance criteria. Work with product execution teams to plan and validate changes
  • Gather program requirements for the requested new content
  • Coordinate with Hardware and Systems teams to ensure requirements are completely understood and immediately communicate concerns where requirements cannot be met with controls solutions alone
  • Decompose feature and system requirements into impacted VMEC value streams. Includes authoring of requirements, acceptance criteria and definition of done
  • Enable requirement and test traceability
  • Capture behavioral, customer experience and controls assumptions and get program team alignment
  • Support the development of requirements based on feature and system requirements from Feature Technical Specifications (FTS) and System Technical Specifications (STS).
  • Generate the initial controls architecture and I/O Assessment indicating how the new feature/functions will integrate into the electrical architecture
  • Support GECSE Lean Portfolio Management and VMEC Feature Management/Approval process
  • Support technical impact and workload assessment for Epics in GECSE Lean Portfolio Management
  • Identify and propose product and process improvements

  • Understanding of automotive mechanical systems, electrical and electronic components, mechatronics, distributed control systems, serial data, and software architectural concepts
  • Familiarity of embedded controls and software architecture
  • Familiarity of software development processes
  • Experience successfully leading activities/projects with high levels of ambiguity
  • Highly developed oral and written communications skills

  • Knowledge of Model-Based System Engineering principles and methodologies

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
  • Experience in requirements management and requirements writing
  • Experience in project management, issue management and cross organization collaboration
