General Summary/ Overview:
As part of the Mass General Brigham Integration Platforms team, the Systems Engineer I designs, manages and monito rs the infrastructure and integration software which supports critical clinical interfaces throughout a multi-hospital organization. The primary responsibility is to ensure that the platforms are robust, scalable, performant and available 24/7/365. The Systems Engineer I should be experienced with InterSystems Ensemble/HealthShare products at the system management level and also have some experience developing clinical interfaces and integration solutions.
The position is part of the Systems Programming group which plays a key role in supporting the Mass General Brigham digital health platforms and interacts with several diverse teams throughout the organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, install, configure and manage InterSystems Ensemble/HealthShare data integration instances on Unix and Azure platforms
Plan, manage and oversee system implementations, enhancements and upgrade projects utilizing recognized project management methodologies
Ensure business continuity of the platforms through extensive monitoring, capacity planning, system optimizations and the development of support tools and processes
Assist in the research, selection and deployment of new technologies
Support and advise integration developers in designing their integration solutions, developing best practices and assisting with Ensemble/HealthShare development training
Participate in monthly OnCall rotations for system support

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
At least 5 years of system administration experience with InterSystems technology products including:
Installations, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting and optimizations
Building highly available mirrored configurations and managing backups/restores
Fully configuring HealthShare instances including security, memory, databases, namespaces
At least 2 years of Ensemble/HealthShare interface development experience including HL7, FHIR, SOAP, REST, XML, HTTPS, FTP
At least 3 years Unix experience and ability to write Unix scripts
Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure
Proficient in Cache' ObjectScript (COS) and experience with other programming languages
Experience developing system utilities, scripts and tools
Experience developing and executing complex system maintenance-related project plans
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex system problems independently
Highly motivated and willing to take the initiative for improving processes to ensure platform stability
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical personnel
Excellent reasoning and analytic skills in a time critical/mission critical problem-solving operation
Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability and eagerness to learn quickly
Working Conditions:
This is a remote position but may require occasional onsite presence
Remote home access equipment and communication will be provided and is required as is regular participation in Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings
Regular participation in on-call rotation which includes carrying and responding to pages 7x24 during the call period. This also requires remote access to resolve issues.
