NASCAR Event Management seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Technical Inspector I.

The primary responsibility for this position is to inspect vehicles as procedures dictates to assure compliance with specified series guidelines for competitors. The other responsibilities include directing competitors in proper procedures for participating in race events.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Manage the Inspection process for engine tear down at the R&D Center and provide direction regarding compliance while using judgment to determine compliance of new and unique vehicle configurations.
• Analyze Data from the Incident Data Recorders to discern abnormalities and root causes and develop and implement recommendations for improvements.
• Manage the Chassis Inspection at the R&D Center and provide direction regarding compliance while using judgment to determine compliance of new and unique vehicle configurations.
• Manage the Operations of the Optical Scanning Station and analyze data to provide direction regarding compliance while using judgment to determine compliance of new and unique vehicle configurations.
• Manage the setup for technical equipment and operations including proper calibration, maintenance, and future planning of inspection procedures.
• Manage inspection of each race vehicle to make sure the vehicles are following the NASCAR Rule Book while using judgment regard compliance for vehicles with new and unique configurations, but not limited to Engines, Drive-Line, Chassis, Body, and Safety and provide direction regarding compliance.
• Analyze pit stops from Pro-Trailer during race events and use judgment to determine compliance with NASCAR Rule Book in new and unique situations.
• Officiate the race on Pit Road or in other locations using applicable technology to determine compliance with NASCAR Rule Book in new and unique situations.
• Manage and apply the appropriate procedures during practice, qualifying and the race including pit road and other race assignments in a consistent, timely, authoritative, and professional manner.
• Assist with the development of the annual rule book by applying knowledge and expertise.
• Responsible for the documentation and reports on all inspections using the Mobile Inspection Application.
• As requested, provide Roamer arm help, or help with any race equipment that has been impounded for further evaluation.
• Responsible for reporting all conflicts, procedure changes, etc. to Series Director or Technical Director.
• Evaluate and recommend procedural improvements to Inspection Process.
• Responsible for maintaining and keeping service records for company vehicles and equipment as required.
• Handle complex issues appropriately in garage and pit areas and oversee various garage observations / inspections as requested by the Series Director or Technical Lead.
• Work one or more assigned inspection station(s) for initial through post-race inspections.
• Assist in pre and post-work day operations including assembly and disassembly of inspection equipment.
• Ensure implementation / application of the appropriate pit road / practice / qualifying procedures / race procedures in a consistent, timely and professional manner.
• Ensure that proper communications with crew chief(s) and / or Race Control are maintained as required.
• Ensure proper execution and confirmation of directives from Race Control
• Assist with traffic control, crowd control and credential verification.
• Handle issues appropriately in garage and pit areas.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High level of customer service and people skills
  • Demonstrated computer competency
  • Valid drivers license
