Umbra Lab, Inc. ("Umbra") is a technology company that builds next-generation space systems. Umbra is launching an unrivaled constellation of space-based radar satellites with SAR capabilities to produce all-weather day-night imagery with sub-meter resolution for low-cost distribution via an integrated web platform. We are a bold, experienced team of developers, engineers, product specialists, and other professionals working to aggressively expand the state-of-the-art for commercial remote sensing.

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to manage cross-functional engineering initiatives in support of our mission. The individual filling this role will work closely with the Engineering, Flight Operations, and Product teams to ensure collaborative projects are brought to completion within an agreed-upon budget, time, and quality.

Responsibilites

  • Co-Develop User Stories, working with developers to translate these into Technical Stories and development tasks.
  • Interface with the Product Owner to understand, refine, and document requirements.
  • Report on Sprint progress and project timelines.
  • Serve as Scrum Master for the development team by grooming Jira with the product and dev leads, scoping and prioritizing deliverables, facilitating stand-ups, and tracking progress through sprints.
  • Manage day-to-day project activities to include status, schedules, scope, risks, deliverables, and resources.


Requirements

  • 3+ years experience working in a planning role for the full development life cycle of complex projects in a web development environment with multi-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Proven ability to author clear user stories from raw business requirements and designs.
  • Experience building user flows and data flows to help communicate the steps taken by a user to achieve a goal and the flow of data through a process or a system.
  • Passion for technology and a keen interest in all things space related.
  • Experience with geospatial technologies and spatial data is a huge plus.
  • Curiosity to understand and leverage new tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Highly organized but having the ability to pivot and live in the chaos that creativity and responding to change brings.
  • Ability to learn on-the-fly in a fast-paced environment, take and give direction, and implement creative solutions through collaboration.
  • Deep knowledge of Atlasssian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence).
