Summary:
The Research Assistant I will work with the Principal Investigator, postdoctoral fellows, and other staff to assist with laboratory-based research focused on understanding mechanisms of the pathogenesis of influenza A and other viral lung diseases. The technician will also be responsible for keeping accurate and concurrent records of specific experiments performed and ordering supplies and reagents.
Principal Responsibilities:
The technician will assist with experiments that will include cell culture, Western immunoblotting, qRT-PCR, ELISA, and preparation of lab buffers. The technician will also be involved in animal studies including inoculation of mice with influenza and other viruses, monitoring of study animals, mouse tissue harvesting and analysis. The technician will perform other experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
BA or BS in a scientific field. Prior laboratory and animal research experience preferred. Dedication, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a highly collaborative and interactive environment.
