Job Purpose

AkzoNobel Coatings Inc. has a great opportunity for a Technical Service Representativesupporting the signage and manufacturing business.

The Technical Service Representative will support the provides support to the Market sales organization, to distributors and end-user customers, assists in the product development process, and resolves problems related to product and application. S/he works with sales, technical, and service support to find the best solution for our customers.

This is a remote work location for this position that supports the East Coast Region of the Business. The preferred candidate residence will be located near a main airport and the Carolina state regions.

Key Accountabilities

  • In conjunction with the small sales team, insures that distributor and end-user customers are properly trained on the use and application of AkzoNobel products, services and equipment.
  • Performs field audits of existing systems to ensure recommendations are understood and followed.
  • Manage the technical relationship with the distributor; provide information and training to distributors for AkzoNobel's products
  • Develop distributor technical capabilities through training programs, mentoring and group clinics
  • Work with the account team to build solid strategic relationships with industry leading customers by providing technical expertise through the promotion of AkzoNobel's products and the creation and delivery of custom service offerings.
  • Support the launch of new product offerings
  • Utilize technology and troubleshooting skills to identify and propose improvements to help improve and optimize customer application of AkzoNobel's products
  • Assist customers in new product use and application by providing product information/support.
  • Establish a network across AkzoNobel's technical organizations in order to identify technologies that are potentially relevant to AkzoNobel's customers.
  • Assists in gaining system approval for product application to ensure criteria are met.
  • Investigates, researches and resolves problems related to product performance and system selection to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assists in the evaluation and selection of equipment related to the paint process to ensure specifications are met.
  • Supports sales activities by visiting prospective accounts and establishing proposed systems and product advantages to achieve sales growth.
  • Assists in the authorizing of product profiles, product testing and trials and maintain records on testing, systems approvals and the auditing of existing accounts to ensure proper documentation.
  • Coordinates with other Account Managers the ongoing support and service of accounts that span territories and market boundaries
  • Responsible for follow up and communication with Sales Group team members including activities, needs, and support issues of all accounts within his/her market.
  • Provide educational forums on industry trends, regulations and technologies by monitoring associations, governmental data, and industry activities. Be an active participant in trade shows and associations to aid in developing new business.
  • Insure that the company and management have comprehensive understanding of factors influencing the industry, market trends, and evolving customer developments.
  • Make industry presentations that promote the company's products and services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university / or equivalent technical experience
  • 7-10 years commercial coatings experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Problem solving, stakeholder management, creating value propositions, commercial and business acumen
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM.
  • Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with key decision makers at all levels at customer accounts and internal management.
  • Must be self-motivated, results driven and customer-oriented.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 75% of the time
