Job Description

GM is undergoing a major transformation, both in how we operate and will influence the future of transportation utilizing the principles of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Our ECU HW Center of Expertise team is on the forefront of this work with the mission to:

  • Reduce complexity through common processes and solutions
  • Establish/Maintain a library of re-useable ECU elements & interfaces and Enable software reuse
  • Provide enterprise sourcing strategies for most cost-effective designs
  • Align technology roadmaps across hardware domains
  • Assess Supplier capability to enable leveraging across ECU domains
  • Refine & align ECU Sourcing timing with LPM activities

To achieve this mission and embolden our culture, we are seeking experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking engineers to join our team in area of Operations or Tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model and foster GM's Core Values and Winning Behaviors (ECU HW Operations & Tools)
  • Create and maintain deliverables and processes according to the key area assignment of the ECU HW CoE (ECU HW Operations & Tools)
  • Drive commonization of the ECU HW CoE in key area of assignment (ECU HW Operations & Tools)
  • Field Service/Manufacturability Support (ECU HW Operations)
  • Supplier Quality support as requested (ECU HW Operations)
  • Process & Program Integration (ECU HW Operations)
  • PoE, PFMEA, VHIL, Validation best practices (ECU HW Operations)
  • Develop and maintain templates and/or Tools based on key area of assignment (ECU HW Tools)
  • Design of new common software debugging Tools applicable to multiple ECU families (ECU HW Tools)
  • Development of new Tools to standardize hardware requirements to enable common software across ECU families (ECU HW Tools)
  • Support Program Increment (PI) planning, visualize and manage the flow of work from ideation to analysis, implementation, and release.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in a core field (Mechanical and/or Electrical and/or Computer)
  • 2+ years of experience in Product Development or related activity
  • High level of competence in writing and comprehending hardware requirements
  • Knowledge of GM product design and development cycles
  • Knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN, GMLAN, LIN, SENT, Ethernet) and electrical architectures
  • Knowledge of mechatronics, microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming
  • High level understanding of hardware and software design and failure modes in electronic modules
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Program Management skills, Results driven individual with high levels of initiative, pro-activity and communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with others and Problem-solving skills involving complex systems
  • Experience in the automotive product release and specification process

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of SAFe Agile Release process including PI/ART/SCRUMS
  • Atleast 1-4 years of experience in Product Development or related activity
