Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the support and maintenance of Florida State University Enterprise Middleware systems.
  • Duties include managing the F5 BIG-IP Application Delivery Controller and the management of SSL certificates, firewall, load balancing, and regular maintenance.
  • The position is also responsible for the configuration and management of web application servers including but not limited to Tomcat, WebLogic, and ColdFusion.
  • Manages the University's main single sign on system, CAS (Central Authentication System), and supports identity federation.
  • Duties also include supporting and maintaining the Automic Automation Engine used for critical ERP functions related to payroll, finance, and student loans.
  • Continually monitor, assess, optimize, and evaluate the Middleware systems for performance and security.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, MIS or related field and four years of network engineering experience. Alternatively, the employer will accept a master's degree in computer engineering, computer science, MIS or related field and two years of network engineering experience.
  • The ideal candidate has a passion for connecting technology with people, an eye for detail, ability to prioritize, top-notch customer service skills and a great attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical user.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to document existing and new processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing improvements and enhancements for all components that compromise the middleware domain (or similar types of software).
  • Experience analyzing performance, resolving issues, and tuning application parameters as needed to include troubleshooting, researching errors, and applying appropriate reconfiguration or patches/fixes as necessary.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include after hours and on call when necessary.
