Compensation: $14.898/per hour as a Trainee or $17.050/per hour as a Worker
Examples of Work
As a Temporary Eligibility Operations Trainee, you will spend your first 6 months as a learner in the field of social services work. As a trainee, you will participate in 6-8 weeks of paid classroom training to prepare you for work with the DHHS, adults, and families. Once complete with classroom and on the job training you will be promoted to an Eligibility Operations Worker and receive a pay increase up to $17.05. This position is essential in providing Nebraskan's access to programs and assistance. On a day-to-day basis you will be reviewing applications for assistance and determining eligibility, which may include interaction via telephone in order to collect, verify, or update financial and demographic information. This will require accessing computer databases to document information with extreme accuracy. In this position, your work will be evaluated by productivity goals to ensure Nebraskan's are being served in a timely and efficient manner. Based on location, positions can be located in Customer Service Centers or Local Office environments. For positions located within Customer Service Centers (Fremont, Scottsbluff, Lexington, Omaha, and Lincoln): work in a call center environment; use call center computers and software, telephones including automated call distribution and voice mail systems. While working in a Customer Service Center or Local Office: conduct telephone and in person interviews in order to obtain and verify information to make an eligibility determination and accurately type information received during interviews into a computer information management system.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, examining/processing financial loan applications, medical or unemployment insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment services, OR a combination of education and experience in any of the above areas.

PREFERRED: Experience in the field of human services or case management. Demonstrated track record of exceeding productivity goals while multitasking in a fast paced work environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and able to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. Skilled in conflict resolution and the ability to adapt to changes quickly. Prior experience in an office setting and strong customer service skills are desired. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

OTHER: Mandatory attendance during initial 8 week classroom training. Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: the principles and practices of social work; the techniques of individual and group interaction; sociological conditions that influence human behavior. Skill in: interviewing customers to collect and elicit essential information, gain rapport and assess customer needs; keyboarding.

Ability to: learn and apply agency and professional practices, procedures, policies, principles and philosophies; protect confidential information; organize and manage own work flow; interact with customers from a variety of socio/economic, cultural and educational backgrounds; apply problem solving techniques to a variety of different circumstances; assess customer needs to provide services and economic assistance; review and evaluate information in relation to general guidelines and specific criteria; write clear and non-judgmental narratives, requests, explanatory letters, technical reports and other materials; select appropriate information from application material and eligibility guidelines; perform computer entry; provide excellent customer services while quickly navigating through computer screens; work in a fast paced environment; prioritize and multi-task while maintaining accuracy; consistently meet deadlines.
