Position Overview

Novelis (formally known as Aleris) in Uhrichsville is seeking a Training Coordinator responsible for the development, implementation and execution of training plans for our aluminum recycling facility.

The successful candidate must be fully committed to engaging in safe working practices, learning new processes and procedures, and driving the team to meet operational and organizational successes.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Employee Talent Development and Skill Based Pay processes by:
    • Onboarding new employees
    • Assessing department training needs
    • Coordinating training activities
    • Facilitating employee career advisement and Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Communicate organization and facility goals and objectives, performance measures, practices and procedures
  • Develop and foster plant-wide systems for continuous improvement activities, including direct involvement in change management, strategic planning, implementation, integration and auditing
  • Assist development of and support EHS&Q plant policies and organization development
  • Participate in internal and external audits of plant training program
  • Serve as Department Administrator of the Novelis Learning Management System (LMS) (i.e. Cornerstone)
  • Work with end users, providers and corporate to provide transparent services from the systems being supported inclusive of innovative, flexible reporting and data handling
  • Drive future development looking for systems offering step change opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a proactive relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Proficient computer skills with in particular: Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
  • Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends and holidays) to support our 24/7 operations
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly

Preferred Qualifications
  • Operational leadership experience or human resources experience
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience designing training programs
  • Lean or Six-Sigma Black Belt certification and/or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experience
