Primary Function of Position:

 

This role provides support to the Manufacturing Department in the form of technician training, creation and maintenance of training materials or documentation, and the development and enhancement of the quality management system.  This individual will develop and improve subject matter that drives towards consistency and integrity of training within the Manufacturing Department, including new product introduction and sustaining manufacturing areas.

A successful person in this role embraces the opportunity to take new approaches and finds creative solutions for how effective training can be used to address real-life production needs. Effective training specialists are self-starters capable of research and assimilation of content (often hands-on) that drives towards solutions and standardization. They pursue deliverables designed to educate and promote self-sufficiency in trainees through the establishment of fundamental knowledge and techniques that serve as a launch point for more specialized training in their assigned roles. These individuals are forward thinking, take the steps necessary to develop themselves, and strive to perfect their craft. They have a passion for continuous improvement and a penchant for making learning fun. They recognize the importance of what they do and take that responsibility seriously. They also excel at developing training that is both fun and effective for their students.

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and deliver new training courses in the areas of manufacturing skills and processes, quality system/GMP practices and requirements, information technology tools, and other subjects as required.
  • Develop and enhance documentation and multimedia that creates relevant training for members of the Manufacturing Department.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder with Manufacturing management to identify and prioritize training needs.
  • Participate in the development of new process instructions while utilizing the Design for Assembly, Good Manufacturing, Good Documentation concepts, and adhere to the Manufacturing and Safety Guidelines.
  • Work with Trainers to define and manage training and certification criteria requirements.
  • Work with Manufacturing Team to improve or maintain existing process instructions by generating ECOs.
  • Work with Trainers during New Product introduction to create new MPIs/WIs
  • In conjunction with Manufacturing management, develop and maintain training plans for all manufacturing technicians.
  • Assess assembly technician skills and provide feedback to management.
  • Maintain training matrix for all manufacturing technicians and regularly present training status to management teams.
  • Solicit feedback on training effectiveness and adjust training methods accordingly.
  • Coordinate external training events when internal resources are not sufficient.

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

 

  • Minimum education Associates degree or higher with minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in technical writing, content development, training, or similar role
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to present training course material to a group of people and to effectively facilitate their learning process
  • Experience authoring and maintaining training materials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A firm understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and disciplines
  • Familiar with Design for Assembly concepts
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems experience a plus
