Job Description for General Internal Medicine

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The staff physician in the clinical track is responsible for providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI patients primarily at Jackson Memorial Hospital [9 half days]. He/she will provide outpatient clinical and endoscopic services, as well as rounding/teaching on inpatients at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Physician will do weekly, holiday, and weekend call proportionate to other GI providers. Staff physician will be engaged in teaching and evaluation of GI fellows as appropriate.

Outline of additional responsibilities include but are not Limited to:

  • Maintain outpatient and endoscopic procedures at Jackson Memorial Hospital

    Qualifications:
  • MD Degree and ACGME US internal medicine internship and residency
  • Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine (or board eligible)

  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or board eligible)
  • Valid unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply (must have license prior to credentialing)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.

  • Must be able to provide prerequisite case logs for procedures credentialled for including sedation.
  • Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements
  • Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care
  • Current BLS certification required. ACLS
  • Valid DEA licensure
