Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Unit Secretary to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators. This person is responsible for assisting while providing exceptional care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, and with supervision from the Charge Nurse or the Registered Nurse, the Unit Secretary is responsible for coordinating patient flow on the unit; processing patient orders; preparing and disassembling patient charts, preparing forms and documents required for patient care; communicating unit-related and/or patient-related needs to other departments and healthcare team members; requesting and obtaining supplies and equipment; answering the phone and greeting visitors; providing clerical support to the unit, and other duties as required.

Work Hours/Shift: Per diem, must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Exceptional Patient Care: Contributes to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively.
  • Excellent Communicator: Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family member.
  • Strong Educator: Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.
  • Technical Familiarity: Understanding in computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), email, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Active Teamwork: Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

Requirements:
  • Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Business school or Associate Degree in Business preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator (HUC) preferred.
  • Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience: Recent experience as a HUC or Secretary in a healthcare related environment such as a hospital, nursing home, ambulatory center or physician office.
  • Skills: Ability to multi-task and interact favorably (present professionally and work in harmony) with staff, patients and visitors in a manner that instills confidence while performing the duties in support of the nursing unit.
