About the Position

We are seeking an Urban Designer II to join our growing PLACE (Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering team in our Atlanta, GA office. The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of three years of related experience focused on architectural design for a variety of public and private projects. The successful candidate would be mentored by our dynamic team of architecture and engineering professionals and focused on overseeing technical excellence and consistency on a range of multidisciplinary projects. The successful candidate would also interface with clients and support proposal development as needed.

About Our Team

Our team of design professionals includes urban designers, landscape architects, civil engineers, transportation engineers, architects, and urban planners. Our PLACE team is engaged in projects throughout the southeast and our existing client base includes local municipalities, state agencies, various federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and private clients. The successful candidate would be an integral part of our growing team and would have the opportunity to engage across markets and geographies.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in developing conceptual designs for a range of project types.
  • Ability to create and develop construction plans including plans, elevations, sections, and details. Familiarization with the specification process is preferred.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams to execute detail design packages.
  • Experience attending client meetings and participating in public meetings.
  • Experience supporting project teams by communicating tasks, documenting meetings, and gathering data.
  • Experience and technical capabilities to create 2D and 3D renderings digitally and by hand, and the ability to determine when each method is appropriate, and the level of detail necessary to achieve project goals/needs.
  • Ability to assess sites both through desktop data analysis and in-person site visits - candidate understands natural conditions (plant, soils, water, etc.) as well as built systems (buildings, utilities, etc.) and can synthesize data to develop conclusions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture or Urban Design.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working in a design studio environment.
  • Candidate should fully intend to begin licensure process within one year of eligibility.
  • Experience working on multiple aspects of projects with emphasis on preparing technical plan drawings, rendered plans and drawings, and construction documents.
  • Experience conducting construction observation site visits, reviewing shop drawings, creating punch lists and coordinating with contractors is beneficial.
  • Ability to lead design processes with oversight of supervisor and Project Manager.
  • Desire and ability to collaborate with and mentor junior staff about design processes and technical execution.
  • Ability to learn local, state, and federal regulations associated with site development and transportation projects.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite required. Proficiency in SketchUp, Rhino, and/or Lumion preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team environment, maintain a positive attitude, manage time, prioritize tasks while working on multiple tasks with concurrent timelines, and is self- motivated to produce high quality work.
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally.
