Job Description

General Purpose of Position
As a program team member, VSL is responsible for managing program team deliverables at the SMT level, working collaboratively with the cross functional teams. He / she provides leadership to achieve program profitability targets, key GVDP deliverables for GPSC overcoming unique challenges to enable program goals. This business individual will provide direction to keep the program on-time, within budget, with quality, while aligning with the VSEs. VSL position directly reports into the GPSC Program Purchasing Management organization with indirect reporting to SMT CEDs.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

KeyRoles/Responsibilities:

  • Successfully manage business initiatives with joint ventures (SGM) blending systems and proven methods to achieve desired results
  • New Technology Development
  • Responsible for driving program profitability within the SMT for multiple programs
  • Provide vehicle program transparency within the SMT:
  • Volume changes
  • Foot print changes
  • Changes from program DSI intent
  • Support various sourcing activities and commodity strategies within SMT through the GDVP
  • DDR / Mid-Point PSR / PSR Approvals
  • Sourcing Recommendations
  • Review Financial and operational metrics at SMT leadership forums
  • Coordinate with global key stakeholders within purchasing, engineering and program teams on a regular basis to enable alignment on costs and timing
  • Potentials / Saving Opportunities
  • Recovery Plans
  • Enable cost reduction activities for various creativity teams while making sure ideas are shared across platforms
  • Cost Reduction meetings
  • Bundling / Scale Opportunities
  • ED&D Lump Sum vs Amortized
  • LTA's vs Best Cost Up Front
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional VSL's on responsibilities and processes for reporting to leadership

Additional Job Description
  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 2 years of post graduation workexperience required
  • Previous Direct Purchasing experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills while maintaining the ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple Programs simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Represent SMT as a single voice for all program related meetings
  • Coordinate internal and cross-SMT Issue escalation process
  • Demonstrate ability to manage ambiguity
  • Familiarity with SMT commodity structure, component architecture & supply base strategy
  • Familiarity with GVDP, program & sourcing process timelines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and purchasing systems
  • Ability to travel and interact with global team
  • Understanding of USMCA requirements
