VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency is seeking a Veterinary Surgery Client Service Coordinator for our busy Surgery Department. We are a fast paced, AAHA-accredited, 24 hour emergency and specialty hospital in Norwalk, CT. Our newly renovated hospital provides services including ER/ICU, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology and Cardiology. Each of our specialty departments utilizes advanced technology to provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and advanced treatments and therapies to care for patients, such as onsite CT and x-ray, ultrasonography, echocardiography, ECG, telemetry and oxygen therapy. As a member of the VCA team, your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent-by delivering an outstanding client experience-so they will partner with us for the lifelong care of their companion animals.

Our hospital team provides an ideal setting to expand and develop skills in every area of our practice.

We are currently looking for a full time employee to join our team working three to four days a week, Wednesday through Saturday.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client communication: providing clients with daily updates, communicating lab results, reviewing discharge instructions, creating and going over estimates with clients, after discharge phone calls
  • Record Keeping: Sending referral letters, scanning and/or faxing records, calling referral veterinarians for medical records, entering charges, documenting client communications
  • Filling prescriptions and reviewing post-op care with clients
  • Restraint of patients
  • Submitting and running laboratory tests
  • Coordinating appointments and discharges with surgeon and technicians

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in veterinary field required, surgery knowledge preferred
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and communicate effectively
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once and enjoys working in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
