Position Introduction
The Department of Biology at Vassar College invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to teach courses in biochemistry and genetics starting in Fall semester 2023.

Position Description
The position includes teaching a senior seminar course for Biochemistry majors and team-teaching an Introductory Biology course in Fall 2023, and teaching an intermediate level course in Molecular Genetics and an upper level seminar course in cell or molecular biology in Spring 2024. Introductory Biology 108 ‘Information Flow in Biological Systems' has both a lecture and lab component, and the instructor is responsible for 3 weeks of lectures and teaching one weekly 3 hr laboratory section. This course is fully designed and has a standardized syllabus, a laboratory manual, and the instructors of the course meet weekly to discuss the laboratory. The topic and design of the upper level seminar courses will be determined by the instructor's area of expertise and in consultation with the Chair of Biology. The Molecular Genetics course includes both a lecture and fully designed lab component. Experience teaching at the college level is preferred and a PhD in a biological science is required.
