Position Snapshot

The Processing Technician ensures safe, effective treatment and handling of containerized wastes by properly receiving, screening, unloading, treating and tracking incoming waste streams and outgoing residuals.

Day in the Life

After checking in with your manager, you can expect to:

  • Review, sign, and process incoming manifests, noting any discrepancies.
  • Directs off-loading operations for receipt of primarily non bulk containers into the facility's storage systems for process and handling
  • Forklift operations to facilitate the handling of all non-bulk containerized wastes
  • Collects and analyzes waste samples.
  • Consolidates like-wastes wherever possible in order to improve economic outcomes.
  • Store waste containers properly in all designated plant storage areas.
  • Performs other, related duties as assigned. There are duties that may not be specifically listed in this description, but which are within the general nature typically associated with the employee's level of work.

What you need to apply
  • A technical certificate or equivalent combination of education or experience required
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Intermediate knowledge of chemical or operation practices and procedures typically gained through 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience
  • Ability to use light equipment, such as forklift and pallet-jack.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations are needed to properly operate handheld scanners.
  • Skilled using hand and shop tools.
  • Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Ability to apply basic geometric principles to calculate area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply mathematical principles to practical situations.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to50pounds
