Summary:

The incumbent will be conducting the daily operation and monitoring of the plant's storm water and wastewater treatment systems for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the performance of the wastewater treatment system through assigned laboratory analysis, visual inspections, and equipment operations.
  • Monitor storm water discharge through visual inspections and laboratory analysis.
  • Provide written reports of the monitoring results to the Environmental Manager.
  • Track assigned tasks to demonstrate compliance with permits and regulations.
  • Perform special tasks as assigned by the Environmental Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have capabilities of performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. For example: Must be able to receive information and be able to verbalize findings to internal management and outside officials.
  • Must have good computer skills for completing agency reports. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic math skills which includes but not limited to addition, subtraction, averaging, and calculating percentages.
  • Must be willing and able to become LOTO certified, forklift certified and confined space trained.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in spill response activities.
  • The operator must be able to obtain a Level 1 Water Treatment certification within 12 months of assignment.
  • The operator must be able to obtain Level 2 Water Treatment certifications within 24 months of assignment.
  • Must be willing and able to assist with grounds' maintenance; including but not limited to snow removal, weed eating, lawn mowing, trash removal, etc.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Prior Waste/Storm Water experience preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 months work experience with a single employer within the last 19 months.
  • Physical / Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to stand and walk; use objects, tools, or controls; reach; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member frequently works outdoors, frequently works near moving mechanical parts and occasionally works in high or in areas above normal height. The Team Member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, loud or high-pitched noise, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, confined space entry and risk of electrical shock. This position will work approximately 9 hours per day and potentially weekends and overtime. This position will also receive after-hour call ins for emergency situations.
