Must love libraries! The Library's Technical Services department is looking for a part-time student worker in serials and acquisitions. The ideal candidate enjoys organizing, working independently, learning new software and skills, and a quiet work environment.Required qualifications:● Ability to organize and prioritize projects● History of dependability, responsibility, and flexibility● Experience using Microsoft applications● Ability to work independently● Work-study eligibility● Score of 100% on pre-interview proficiency quiz

Preferred qualifications:● 3.00+ GPA● Previous library or clerical experience● Experience learning new job-related software

Primary Responsibilities:

Typical daily duties for this position will include:● Mail pickup, sorting, and delivery● Check-in of periodicals (newspapers, magazines, and journals)● Maintenance of periodicals displays and stacks● Processing of new library materials● Reporting statistics and performing other data entry tasks● Other duties as assigned
All job duties occur within the typical Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm work week, and some level of afternoon availability (12:00pm to 5:00pm) is strongly preferred. Employees must follow the library dress code. Some lifting of up to 20lbs, pushing and pulling of library carts, bending, reaching, and dexterity for repetitive tasks are required, with modifications and accommodations provided as needed.

Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.

The SRSU campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde comprise Rio Grande College. RGC offers upper-level courses leading to bachelor's degrees as well as master's degree programs and works closely with its partner institution, Southwest Texas Junior College, to provide a seamless transition to RGC for their students. All RGC students hold an Associate degree from an accredited institution or they have completed 42 semester credit hours of transferrable work.
